Ms. Bowjangles, designed by Anna Boch and David Engelhorn for Ingo Maurer in 2023, takes its name from its characteristic arch: a spring steel rod sheathed in a coloured textile rope, orange or olive green, that seems to climb effortlessly up a slender black support rod and wraps around an elegant black metal shade. It looks as if the shade is held in place by nothing but the twists of the rope.
As a floor lamp it stands on a black base plate with its rod, and the asymmetrical arch plays against the straight vertical in clear lines and curves. Height and reach are easy to adjust, the shade swivels to direct the warm LED beam, and a touch sensor at the top of the rope switches and dims the light.
