Bit 3 is the round member of Ferruccio Laviani's Bit family, a 1993 collection of organic glass shapes conceived as an alphabet for composing on a wall. A full disc of satin white coated glass sits a few inches off the wall on a single round metal boss that hides the lamp holder behind it.
When lit, the glass glows evenly and a soft ring of light spreads onto the wall around its edge, like a small moon. It works alone as a quiet accent in a bedroom or hallway, or grouped with the other Bit shapes. It plugs in on a transparent cord with an inline switch, so no new wiring is needed.
