Oskar is a lamp and a bookend in one. Ingo Maurer first designed it in 1998, and today's Oskar LED, reworked in 2019, keeps the idea simple: a flat anodised aluminium plate slips under a row of books and holds them upright, while a flexible metal arm carries a small reflector with protective glass that can be bent into any position.
It gives focused, warm light exactly where it is needed, picking out the spines on a large or small shelf or lighting a page on a compact desk. An extra-long cable makes it easy to place even deep inside a large shelving unit, so the reading corner, the study or the bookcase gets a quiet, sculptural accent.
