nuunu, designed in 2023 by Flavia Thumshirn, a member of the Ingo Maurer design team for 20 years, is a floor lamp that captures the poetry of a golden autumn. Three discs of gold-leaf paper, each about 20 cm across, sit on slender stainless steel rods almost two metres tall. The rods taper towards the top and sway slightly, like reeds, rising from a square base of blued steel.
Three crystal glass spheres set into the base are lit from below, so they seem to glow while they light the golden leaves above. The leaves turn freely to change the play of light and shadow on the ceiling, and a dim-to-warm foot dimmer makes the light warmer as it gets softer. Switched off, nuunu stays a sculptural object that catches the light in the room.
