Mint Forest Butterfly is a three-dimensional wall piece by Studio ROOF: a butterfly with wings open in bold pattern in layered, printed card. It captures the colour and symmetry of a butterfly at rest, and its layers cast soft shadows on the wall.
Made from recycled cardboard and printed with vegetable inks, it arrives flat-packed and is assembled at home from pop-out pieces. Studio ROOF, the Amsterdam design studio founded in 2005, turns recycled cardboard into colourful sculpture.
Studio ROOF
Founded in 2005 by Romy and Ilya together with their three young children, Studio ROOF is a family-run Dutch design studio that began with a cardboard playhouse and now has its own store in the heart of Amsterdam. The studio believes creativity, play and sustainability belong together, and every design is made from recycled cardboard printed with vegetable inks, then assembled by hand at home. The collection spans 3D wall art of birds, butterflies, beetles and sea life, everlasting paper flower bouquets inspired by Van Gogh, Klimt and Matisse, pop-out cards, baby mobiles and holiday ornaments. Each piece turns a creative moment into a lasting design object, bringing colour, nature and a playful sense of wonder to any room.
