Lil Luxury 2, designed by the Ingo Maurer Team in 2020, turns the ceiling into a canopy of light. Two square sails of lacquered paper, in gold or matte white, float one below the other on braided polyester cords stretched to four points on the ceiling, framing a slim aluminium light box at their centre.
The light falls through the square openings and grazes the sails, which glow warmly and throw a soft, indirect light across the room. With a lowest sail just 21 cm below the ceiling, this compact two-sail version of Lil Luxury suits rooms from about 235 cm high, over a dining table, in a living room or a bedroom.
