Kurage, Japanese for jellyfish, is a soft dome of washi paper floating on four slender ash-wood legs. Designed in 2015 by Luca Nichetto with the Japanese studio Nendo, it pairs Venetian and Japanese craft: the paper is moulded into its curved, three-dimensional form by hand, so its fibres and slight irregularities show when the lamp is lit.
The washi filters the bulb into a warm, calm glow, while the legs, the white ceramic lamp holder and the paper-fibre sleeve over the cord keep the piece light and tactile. It sits well on a sideboard, desk or nightstand in a bedroom, living room or study, and switches on and off at the cord.

Foscarini’s wide range of products include both home décor lamps and special custom designs that perfectly complement hotels, restaurants, and other residential and commercial interiors.
