Kokoro, Japanese for heart, belongs to the MaMo Nouchies, the collection Dagmar Mombach developed with Ingo Maurer and his team in 1998. Its shade of red Japanese paper is shaped by hand in Mombach's workshop through several elaborate steps, so it seems to swirl around the slender stem like a dancer's skirt, and no two shades are ever quite the same.
A small heart-shaped mirror sits on the stem above the shade. Tilt it, and it reflects a heart of light onto the table or the wall. The warm LED glow can be dimmed from a switch on the cable, turning Kokoro into a poetic, sculptural presence on a sideboard, a desk or a bedside table.
